CSIRO’s Aspendale laboratories undertake research into the atmospheric environment, including atmospheric pollution and the prediction of climate, weather and ocean processes.
The CSIRO Aspendale site is located 25 kilometres south-east of Melbourne and is home to CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR).
CSIRO’s Aspendale site houses about 150 staff.
Research facilities include:
the Cape Grim air archive
an ice analysis laboratory
a gas analysis laboratory
a wind tunnel.
Additional research tools include a range of computer-based climate and atmosphere models, and atmospheric monitoring instruments.
