  • 20 May 2010

The Health and Food Sciences Precinct is located at Coopers Plains, approximately 20 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD, Australia.

The precinct provides a collaborative environment for researchers to advance biosecurity, healthcare, medicine, food and nutrition.

Their work in food safety, health and nutrition will assist Queenslanders to lead healthier, more active lifestyles and strengthen Queensland’s agricultural and food industries.

The A$93.7 million precinct is a collaboration between the Queensland Government and the CSIRO.

In one location 200 scientists work on a diverse mix of scientific services, improving industry access to this world-class research capacity.

Key features of the precinct facilities include:

  • workspaces and laboratories for food science, animal nutrition and biochemical analysis and research.
  • pilot plant for handling seafood, meat and horticulture products and food processing including product development and focus group testing.
  • high-security facilities for animal biosecurity research and diagnostic testing.
