Location summary
Set in the agriculture and food technology precinct of Werribee, CSIRO Food and Nutritional Sciences' Victorian site is ideally placed for its close interaction with the dairy industry.
Around 100 staff are employed at Werribee, on various projects that address the food processing and dairy needs of Australian industry.
The site houses five 500 square metre registered food factory modules, a 35L high pressure processing unit, supporting kitchens and food preparation areas, and a further three non-food grade modules.
Research at the Werribee site is focused on food processing and dairy. The skills of the staff include:
- innovative processing technologies
- separation technologies
- cheese processing
- microencapsulation
- microbiology and biotechnology.
Staff at Werribee also contribute to the Preventative Health and Food Futures Flagships.
Dairy Innovation Australia Ltd is also located on the site.
